Seconds to Live

Cyber-criminals are a real threat to the security of witnesses in the Witness Protection program. When U S Marshall Taylor Mills finds one under her protection has broken protocol, the threats by the Phantom become dangerously real.

FBI Agent Sean Nichols finds himself face to face with Taylor, but finds they must test their friendship as emotions come into play. Knowing each others deepest secrets causes conflicts.

However they must work together to protect Dustee, as she is the only one who can identify the Phantom.

This story is very techie, which I am not very familiar with. But it involves hacking into sophisticated systems and stealing vital information. There are a lot of twists in the story, and until the end you just keep guessing.

The Beauty of the Season

At Christmas, do you ever just sit by the tree and take in the beauty of the season?

After everyone has gone to bed, do you fill a plate with some sweet goodness, make a hot cup of tea and just enjoy the quietness of the evening?

Do you sometimes wonder what the Shepherds thought on that night, so many years ago, when the Angelic host proclaimed the birth of Jesus?

What an awe filled experience that must have been.

And for now, I will turn the lights down low, and pretend the twinkling of the Christmas tree are the stars of the Universe proclaiming the birth of our Savior, Christ the Lord.

Do you love to bake?

Years ago a friend shared this Banana Bread recipe and it's been a long time favorite with my family.

The cast of characters -

2 sticks Butter (melted)
2 cups sugar (cream together with butter)
Add 2 eggs, one at a time, beating well.

Alternate the following:
3 cups flour, sifted
1 tsp salt
3 large RIPE bananas, mashed
1 tsp baking soda mixed with 1/4 cup buttermilk

Add 1 tsp vanilla
optional 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Pour into 2 greased and floured loaf pans
Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour or until center is firm and toothpick comes out clean.

This is the yummiest Banana bread I have ever tasted. So very moist. We cut into the first one and freeze the second. But it isn't long before the second one pops out of the freezer.
Enjoy!

Christmas on the Porch

Living in Florida affords the luxury of wonderful weather. Enjoying a warm and sunny day, I open the doors to the porch and set a Christmas table.

The tool box arrangement was inspired by a post from the amazing Rosemary and Thyme when she shared a Christmas Home Tour a couple of years ago.

I hope this Christmas season is a joyous one for each and every one of you.

The Bridge to Belle Island

 The Bridge to Belle Island

The Bridge to Belle Island is a mystery where everyone is suspect but nobody claims they did it.

Lawyer Ben Booker resolves to never again be taken in by a pretty face. No matter how much he believes they are innocent! But when murder comes too close to the firm, senior partner sends Ben to Belle Island to investigate,

Isabella Wilder has never left the island in ten years. Over come with fear, she finds herself trapped on the island. But when she becomes the suspect in the murder of Percival Norris, her trustee, she battles confusion. And her dreams haunt her seeing the murder victim.

Although slow reading, I found the story to be interesting enough to keep going. Especially that it kept me guessing, with the suspects volleying back and forth.

Good Regency Mystery and romance.

Holiday cookies

What better way to prepare for the Christmas season than with home made cookies?

Nothing is more enjoyable with cookies than a cold glass of milk, or a hot cup of cocoa.A variety of cookies is always a treat. But there are favorites that grace my table every year.

Every Christmas Eve, when my children were small, we would sit around the tree and enjoy MandM cookies. I often made enough to share with neighbors.
And even now that the children are grown, I make a batch and send them home for their families.

Holiday Party Cookies -

1 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
1/2 cup sugar

Blend together, then add

2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

Blend everything together and add 1 1/2 cups MandM's or Chocolate Chips
Drop by teaspoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.

Aren't they pretty :-) I do place the MandM's on the top. I hope you enjoy them.
