Secondary Target

Angela Carlisle's Secondary Target is her debut novel. A mystery with twists and turns that keeps you reading.

After Corina's mother and brother were killed, she and her father created a new life in a new town and state. But strange things are starting to happen. Bryce Jessup, Corina's ex, has moved back to Kincade Kentucky but has no plans on seeing Corina again. Yet they are thrown together when she receives threats and her father ends up in the hospital.

This story was suspenseful and fast paced.  Secrets uncovered and mistakes forgiven. Ms Carlisle's characters are complex and interesting. An action filled gripping Christian based romantic suspense. Well written with compelling dialogue.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. All views expressed are my honest opinion.

The Hudson Collection

The Hudson Collection by author Jocelyn Green is set on the Hudson River in New York City. A beautiful tale in the 1920's.

The main character, Elsa Reisner, is sent to Elmhurst by the American Museum of Natural History to go through the estate and categorize the taxidermy bird specimens bequeathed to the museum. While she is there, she befriends the gardener and her daughter. She learns about a mystery that has great value. No one can find this piece of antiquity, and with the mansion slated to be destroyed, time is running out. Her attraction to Luke DuPont brings her out of her shell, that has kept her since she developed polio as a child.

This story is so full of compassion and is rich with some heavy topics. I found this story to be fascinating and enlightening with well written characters. Very sweet and clean reading. The authors informative notes at the end were very interesting as she has based a lot of the story on facts and history.

I received a complimentary ebook copy from the publisher, through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Happy Fathers Day

My guy is not big fan of tea. Unless it is cold, sweet and on ice, he prefers a big mug of coffee. But perhaps this would be a hit for all the Fathers.

The handsome pocket watch belonged to my hubby's grandfather.

I hope the Fathers in your life enjoy their special day.

Meeting her Match

Miss Camilla Pierpont is a well known matchmaker and a member of the New York Four Hundred. She has vowed to never marry after a heartbreak during her debut years ago. Owen Chesterfield is determined to have Camilla help his sister become a refined lady. Camilla is having none of it, until she is put in a position where she needs to get out of town.

Turano's characters were quirky and somewhat humorous. The story was slow moving but Turano's trademark humor and interesting situations kept the story moving.
