Night Sky

Traveling in our Airstream has become an exciting adventure. I'm always stunned at the beauty of the night sky.

Just this morning

... I was thinking about you, dear friend.

As I sat outside, enjoying the early morning breeze and taking in the beauty of the day.

So I laid out a place setting, just for you.

I'd love to share some fellowship time with you.

I love to sit on the back porch and listen to the water flowing in the pond........
and from the fountain.
So this morning, I invite you to share with me this little bit of beauty
...... and enjoy the God who is sovereign over all.

Midwestern sky

On a recent trip to the mid-west, the sky was glorious to watch from my window.

Do you see our silver lady following behind?

Shadows of Fall

This morning, when I saw the sunlight streaming in the windows, I was taken by the lovely fall shadows playing on the coffee table.  A perfect spot for tea, wouldn't you say??

The kettle is hot and the tea is almost ready.

How to Listen so People will Talk

Becky Harling has written a compelling book helping us navigate the world of conversation. I was interested in reading Ms. Harling's book mostly due to the fact that I sometimes feel, not only that people don't really "talk",but because I wanted to understand how to listen and talk with others.

"How to Listen so People will Talk" begins with listening to God's voice. In John 6:45, the scripture states - "And they shall all be taught of God. Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to me." Self evaluation of tangible ways to listen to God's voice.

Secondly, she brings insight in how humility draws people to open up. We need to prioritize our relationships by following Jesus examples focusing on the needs of others. Jesus did not push his opinions on others. He listened and only spoke truth in response.

It's important to focus on listening to find feelings. How is the person feeling when they share. Ms. Harling suggests questions to ask that allows people to explore what's in their hearts.

I thought it was interesting that 80% of a successful conversation involves good listening.

Becky Harling outlines practical ways on how to be a better listener and to listen better. There are questions we can ask ourselves when we feel the need to give advice rather than listen.  And when you ask good questions, you turn your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding (Proverbs 2:2)
In our day of electronic devices, this is well worth reading, to keep lines of communication open with people we know, work with, and love.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. All views expressed are my honest opinion.

Warm and Inviting

The colors of Autumn are always so warm and inviting.

I also made Pomegranate Iced Tea, as we are still enjoying 80 degree weather here in the south.

Pomegranates, pears and apples grace the centerpiece.

The cake plate was painted by my late mother in love.

Contrasts

The sky can often be a conversation of contrasts.
