A Change in the Season

I enjoy changing the china in my hutch.  Every season speaks a different theme.  Fall is in the air, even if our temps are still in the 80's, the mood still speaks Fall.

I love to display my Friendly Village China from now until Thanksgiving.

Autumn

I loved autumn, the one season of the year that God seemed to have put there just for the beauty of it. ~Lee Maynard

A little bit of Fall .............

Living in the deep south, we do not have the change of seasons that our neighbors a little north of us enjoy.  So we just bring Fall indoors :-)

Happy Fall Ya'll!

What's the secret??

A couple of weeks ago I did a post showcasing my beautiful African Violet.

Several people said they couldn't grow violets or have not had success.  Well I am here to share with you how to grow them successfully.

"Friends.............

...grow separately without growing apart."

Do you have a special friend that is growing in a different part of the world? I think we may all know someone who is special in our heart, yet they are miles away.  I set a table on the porch this morning, with the sunlight pouring in, listening to the water flowing in the fountain, in honor of such a friend.

Come share this table with me.  I'd love to spend some time with you, growing together.

Secrets of Secondhand Shopping

appliances,blenders,boxes,business,chairs,clothes,coat racks,coat stands,coats,females,furnitures,garage sales,hats,households,jackets,lamps,lights,people,persons,shoppers,shopping,tags,women,yard sales

A couple of years ago in the Parade section of the Sunday paper there was an article titled "Secrets of Secondhand Shopping" by Carmen Wong Ulrich. With thrifting being the current rage, she had some pointers about finding the best deals.

Well, if you have been thrifting for a while, you know all the pointers. But I had never heard of narts.org  (The National Association of Resale and Thrift Shops) website before. It lists many thrift stores around the country. She also listed shopgoodwill.com and shophousingworks.com . Even the government has a website at govdeals.com (click on "Government Property for Sale"), and  govsales.gov .  In our area we also have a link for Garage Sales

It makes for a happy thriftin' week! You just never know what treasure you might find :-)

Riveting.........

I looked at the clock.  It was 1:40 AM.  No, it couldn't be.........

I've been so captured by this story that I just could not put it down.  I turned out the light and left the rest of the book for the morning.

Have you ever been so caught up in a story that you felt like you were really there?  Well that is what award winning author Dan Walsh does for me.  I have read six of his novels and they are each captivating in their own way.  Many of his books are based on real events. Walsh is a masterful storyteller. He has the ability to draw you in, like you are the third party in the story.  I have always enjoyed authors who can do that.  The first book I read, The Reunion, was on my Kindle.  Then I read Remembering Christmas.  By then I was hooked.

Yep, I'm already looking forward to his next book. They just keep getting better and better.

Tea in the Garden

For most of the US, summer is coming to an end.  Here in the deep south, we still will enjoy sunshine and balmy days.  But even so, I wanted to spend a little time in the garden.  The azaleas have all been trimmed, waiting for a little cold weather to start their blooms.

My African Violet has been so full of blooms.  I just had to take it out to the garden and enjoy its beauty.

This Old Royal Bone China sugar and creamer were purchased on one of my trips to Chicago.

My daughter brought the Russian Orenburg Lace Scarf on her first trip to Russia.

Tea in the Garden.  It's always a delight to share a tea party with you.
