Tick toc, tick toc........... and so goes the clock.
As I have mentioned on my blog before, the people we bought our house from left several pieces of furniture. Well actually we bought some and they left some. But along with the amazing furniture, their realtor told our realtor that they wanted to leave us a gift.
The first time we toured the house, there was an antique clock on the stair landing.
My hubby greatly admired it, and made a comment about it. So when we came to close on the house, we were told that the owners had left us a gift. This clock! Wow we were so delighted. I am not sure of the maker, as we now have it on display on the bookcase in the living room. But we were told that it belonged to one of their grandmothers.
And low and behold when we came to the house after the closing, we not only found this clock, but TWO more!
The manufacturer is from Ithica NY.
This third clock is in very sad shape.
All of the insides are falling down, so it has to be treated very tenderly. On the back is a sticker that says "Fred's Grandfathers clock". Fred was the owner, and he was about 70 years old. I do not see a makers mark and I did not want to open the little door.
But thanks to the former owners we are on our way to a nice little antique clock collection :-)

What a nice gift!! I can tell you this... one almost identical to it was in my grandmother's home when she was growing up in Ithaca, N.Y. around 1910. She and her parents and siblings had made the trip from Italy. It is a very cherished possession in my brother's home... and it still keeps time!
Y'all were really fortunate.

These are beautiful pieces of history left to you to cherish. Thank you for sharing.
I am really surprised anyone would want to get rid of those clocks. You were very lucky in this move.
I can't believe they left those there - but how lucky for you! Those are just gorgeous!
Wow! It's amazing that they left those clocks. They must have wanted them to stay with the house and knew that you would be good clock keepers and appreciate them.
What beautiful treasures!!
That's a good start for a collection. I guess they knew you would enjoy the clocks more than they did.

What a lovely gift, not one but three vintage clocks. Thank you so much for sharing the story and clocks with us.
I'm surprised they would leave it considering it was their grandmother's-lucky for you-great pieces!

Your clocks are beautiful. What an amazing gift for you! Happy VTT!
Wow, I wish our previous owners had left us a gift! They just left days and days of cleaning and washing down walls and cabinets to get the tar from all the smoking off. You were very blessed and it is a great collection.
