Kitchen Vintage Things

Just some kitchen vintage things that I've picked up over the years.

All except this basket.

I can remember my Mom having this basket on the kitchen table ever since I was a little girl. It is very fragile and delicate now, but I am sure it held rolls and goodies at one time.

Winter time can be so dark and bleak, but it is also a wonderful time to enjoy a piping hot cup of tea and share it with a friend.

So come along, pull up a chair and let's enjoy a spot of tea together. My little Hostess Angel is waiting to serve you.

Thank you for joining me today. I am also sharing my table with these lovely ladies -

Words to Live By

All whom My Father gives (entrusts) to Me will come to Me; and the one who comes to Me I will most certainly not cast out [I will never, no never, reject one of them who comes to Me]. John 6:37

Will Jesus welcome and receive all who come to Him in childlike faith, and turn you away? Never!

Will He forgive the sins of others who have trusted in His cleansing blood, but leave you condemned? Never!

Will He adopt into His family everyone who has been born of His Spirit, but leave you an orphan? Never!

Will He lead the lives of others who are following Him, but misguide you? Never!

Will He have fellowship with those who walk in His light, but shut you out? Never!

Will He intercede for those who look to Him as their High Priest, but fail to represent you? Never!

Will He comfort those who have sorrow, but keep from wiping your tears? Never!

Will His grace be sufficient for our weaknesses, but insufficient for yours? Never!

Will He extend His kindness to those who hope in His mercies, but leave you under a cloud of judgment? Never!

Will He fulfill the desires of those who fear Him, but leave you destitute? Never!

Will He love others with an everlasting love, but withhold His love from you? Never!

Will He take unto Himself all those who wait for His appearing, but leave you behind? Never!

Vintage Thingie Thursday

Tick toc, tick toc........... and so goes the clock.

As I have mentioned on my blog before, the people we bought our house from left several pieces of furniture. Well actually we bought some and they left some. But along with the amazing furniture, their realtor told our realtor that they wanted to leave us a gift.

The first time we toured the house, there was an antique clock on the stair landing.

My hubby greatly admired it, and made a comment about it. So when we came to close on the house, we were told that the owners had left us a gift. This clock! Wow we were so delighted. I am not sure of the maker, as we now have it on display on the bookcase in the living room. But we were told that it belonged to one of their grandmothers.

And low and behold when we came to the house after the closing, we not only found this clock, but TWO more!

The manufacturer is from Ithica NY.

This third clock is in very sad shape.

All of the insides are falling down, so it has to be treated very tenderly. On the back is a sticker that says "Fred's Grandfathers clock". Fred was the owner, and he was about 70 years old. I do not see a makers mark and I did not want to open the little door.

But thanks to the former owners we are on our way to a nice little antique clock collection :-)

Outdoor Wednesday

As I was pumping gas into my car, I noticed this lovely little island right next to the gas pumps at the Big Warehouse. These little ducks were swimming and playing, totally oblivious to the fast paced world around them.

Tea Time Tuesday

My teacup today is called Royal Patrician.

Fine bone English china with very sweet delicate pansies.

Just had to take a solo picture of the saucer. It is so beautifully decorated.

A very sweet friend came to stay with me a few years ago. She brought me this lovely teacup which had been purchased in Amish Country. I love the delicacy of the flowers. And of course the flower overflowing inside the cup invites you to take a sip of Earl Grey, or English Breakfast tea.

My favorite flavor of tea is Mango. But if you are ever in the Toledo Ohio area, you must stop by Clara J's Tea Room and order their Neapolitan tea. It is more of a dessert tea, but oh my!! is it ever delicious. Clara J's is located in Maumee. Her web site is www.clarajsat219.com.

VTT

It's so fun to look for treasures when I go into a thrift store. I seem to look at them with new eyes.

I loved finding this dishcloth with the sweet embroidered girl. I'd love to find some more with the different days of the week.

And then there was this pretty cross stitched tablecloth, in perfect condition.

Things like these are getting harder and harder to find in our area.

And then one day I walked into an antique shop in Plant City, and spied this vintage quilt.

oooo what fun!

Isn't it pretty? This is only the second quilt that I have ever bought, and they are both in perfect condition. And I might add that both times I made an offer and the owners accepted it!

Outdoor Wednesday

Although we have been having some biting cold weather in Florida lately, I thought I would share this picture from New Year's Day 2011.

Yep it was a very balmy day on 1/1/2011.

Iced tea anyone??

Tea for Two

When my BFF from cold country came down a couple of years ago, we spent a day at the Tea Room. This is how the "high tea" was presented. Isn't it just lovely?

And if you look very closely, you will see the bottom layer has all the little desserts. But look a little closer. You can see that on the dessert layer are these dainty little demitasse cups. Do you know what was in these delicate little cups?

They were layered with cake, cut up strawberries and whipped topping. A Strawberry Shortcake ala Tea Room! So delicious, and so creative. Who would have thought to serve strawberry shortcake in these delicate little cups? So if you have any little cups just hanging around, even if the saucers are long gone, make up a batch of cake, add some sliced strawberries and top it off with whipping cream. You will be the hostess with the mostess by serving these little gems at your next tea party!

Trust in the Lord

When is it a good time to put our trust in the Lord? In Psalm 62:8 the Lord gives us the answer, “Trust in Him at all times.” Putting our trust in the Lord is not something we jump in and out of according to our difficulties or circumstances. Put your trust in the Lord when you are healthy and when you are ill; when you have a lot and when you have little; when things are going well and when things are going poorly; when you are settled and when you are in the midst of change; when you are getting a pay-check and when you are looking for a job; when you have understanding and when you don’t know what to do. Our trust in the Lord must never be seasonal or selective, optional or debatable, relative or arbitrary. Our trust in the Lord must be steadfast, constant, consistent, unwavering. We must completely trust in the One who is completely trustworthy.
