Sundae anyone? VTT

For several years I picked up Sundae glasses whenever I found them at a good price. I have a few in different sizes, some of which are up on the shelf in my kitchen. But here are a few.

I thought they would be fun to serve ice cream, but we just never used them for that purpose.

These Parfait glasses were given to me years ago by my hubby's aunt. We have used these to make a dessert with vanilla ice cream layered with orange sherbet. They are fun, pretty and not a huge size, which makes for a smaller portion.

I love these Ice Cream Soda glasses. They belonged to my Mom. We used to make Root Beer, and Coke Floats in them. I don't know how long she had them, but I figured they were from the 60's.

So now that I have dug these out of the cabinet, they are heading to the dishwasher for a good cleaning. Be sure to stop by Colorado Lady's Vintage Thingies Thursday blog and browse around at the other vintage goodies. There is always something fun and interesting to learn about when you visit the other blogs.

Happy thriftin'!

I wonder if you can get pumpkin ice cream for Thanksgiving. I remember many years ago when I bought pumpkin yogurt at my grocery store in the fall.

We used those ice cream dishes for special occasions, like good grades or a special accomplishment.
I think you can get pumpkin ice cream at fancy grocery stores or places where they make their own ice cream.

I remember those dishes. In fact, I was in an old drug store not long ago, and they were still using some of these glasses. I thought it was so neat.

I like them all, especially the parfait glasses. They would look nice sitting out with tiny ornaments for Christmas.

I have a few sundae dishes someplace - - - which reminds me, I need to FIND those. They always make me remember Drug Store soda fountains and the lovely sundaes I used to get there. I'm not opposed to our modern pharmacies, but they missed the boat when they stopped having the soda fountain, don't'cha think?

Love your moms ice cream soda glasses! Ice cream tastes so much better when served the "proper" way. I wanna come over.

These are great, I love the soda glasses, and if you can believe this, I do not have one of any of these....makes me wonder why? I have seen banana split boats in an antique shop, but do not own any myself.

Have a great VTT and a wonderful holiday week ahead!

Hi, Jocelyn,
I enjoyed seeing your sundae glasses and soda fountain glasses. You have a nice collection! The soda glasses really bring back memories because when I was first out of high school, I worked at a soda fountain in a drugstore in my hometown. Have a lovely Friday and wonderful weekend! Vicki

I would take some fat quarters in pretty colors and stuff them in there to display. Such a fun collection!

The last picture is the one that brings back memories of vanilla ice cream with Hershey's chocolate syrup (in the tiny can, remember?). Also growing up we had a lot of coke floats - my word, those both sound so delicious!

I spent some time going back over some previous posts and I truly enjoyed myself so I decided to follow you. Come see me and I'd be honored if you follow me also.

What lovely old ice cream dishes. Weren't they pretty? Such nice, fluid lines to the glass. You know, I think I have 4 old Sundae dishes tucked away somewhere. I should ferret them out and give them a really good washing, like you did with yours!

PS Happy thanksgiving!
