Stop Scrapers

I am not a very big blog, so thinking about someone stealing my blog posts or pictures seems foreign to me. But after reading Susan's blog post Stop Scraper from Stealing Your Content, I looked into my stats and was very horrified at the top referring site. I did go to THIS site and added the code to my blog. I'm hoping it will work and keep the winged monkeys from freely taking content from my blog. Time will tell, as I check my stats again.

So now I will be adding a watermark on all of my photos. I just found a way to do it right in Picasa. I've been taking a couple of hours and working on adding the watermark to some of my older pictures. I sure hope this will divert those who are perpetrating the ugliness away from my blog posts. I cannot see the watermark on my blog, but perhaps someone who gets the posts via feed could let me know if it is showing up?

I just found a really good tutorial on Ramblings & Photos. Please check out Ashley's info.
If you use Photoshop, check out THIS tutorial at Texas Chicks.

Hey Jocelyn, Can you believe this.
It's awful!! We put (I put) a lot of thought into my posts, and to think they are being scraped. E-mail me where to look on my stats.

Oh my word, not you too?

OK I am going right now to check my stats- never in a million years thought they'd want MY stuff!

SO SORRY you discovered this, good for Susan for letting us know there is a way to protect somewhat.

GL with it, I am so sorry!

Thank you! The link you shared was very helpful! I can't remember how i got to it, but I eventually landed at this spot...

I found a way to batch change my photos with a watermark in Photo Shop Elements. From now on, I will have a watermark on my pictures. =)

I also saw a post about content being stolen and it scared the bejibbers out of me! I'm new to blogging, so it's a bit confusing to me.

I love your blog and especially your teacups. My Grandmother in law gave me teacups as gifts and I love using them.

hi, I'm going to check now but have heard that even with watermarks they can still take your photos-that you really need your name across the photo. Susan-to live, love and journal had her photos stolen by someone in another country. Such a sad thing, like you I just do this for fun.
Thanks for sharing. Noreen

This is just horrid. I'm going to add a watermark to my pics too, although I'd love to do that link loop that crashes their servers, lol. Beyond my skills, I'm afraid. I did see your name on your pics from your other blog in my google reader, so you know that works. I would really hate to change my RSS settings, as I like blogs that show in full, but if I find scraping going on, I might change it up.

I agree, it's awful that there are sites out there steeling our post pictures. I don't think any one has stolen anything from mine, not being a super duper blog, but it would really upset me. I've been water marking my snaps for a little time now! :)
Thanks you for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)

Thanks. I tried it and hope it works. Over the last few days since I've posted about stolen blogs, I've found several similar posts, but I never could find the code. This time I found it and added it. Thanks!
