Vintage Things

I picked up these vintage things many years ago. Okay, so what is it??

Well actually it is a toaster!

I'm not exactly sure if it was made to toast over an open fire or if it was for a pot belly stove. But a toaster is what it is.

This however -

I really don't know what it is. I've had this in my kitchen for many years, just for decoration. It is possible that there used to be something in the middle. You can see it in the above picture that it is shaped like a bowl. If you have any clue what this was used for, I'd love some insights.

And while you are visiting Coloradoladys blog, please take a peek at the Secret Santa Soiree Suzanne is hosting. Sign up closes on October 30th. So join in on the fun!

When I was a little girl, we used that toaster in our tiny little trailer, over the flame on our propane stove.

I love vintage gadgets. My mom has a collection from her mother and grandmother hanging in her kitchen, but her toaster looks different than that one. That's very cool... wonder what the other thing is???

I think you can still get toasters like that in some camping gear stores too, but most people bring a small toaster in their trailers now. I think we used a plug in toaster when camping when I was a kid!

Is the other thing something that picks up a hot bowl, maybe? It really is pretty regardless!

The wire thing could possibly be to set a bowl in it and keep something warm at the back of a wood burning stove. It would not be on direct heat, but the wire would radiate the heat around the bowl - just a thought.

My mother in law had a toaster like that and we would take it camping. It worked pretty well except we had to turn it over for both sides to toast.
