Be Thankful

I received three Thank You notes in the mail one day. It was a delightful surprise, as I had already been thanked for a gift that was given. Yet receiving the Thank You notes in the mail blessed my heart.

This year I have purposed to write a note to someone every month. It's part of a challenge called

Letter writing has gone out of style. We can correspond with almost everyone via email, facebook or texting. But yet there is something special about receiving a letter or note in the mail. Addressed to ME! And even though I write to several friends, I decided that it would be worth my while to write to someone that I don't normally correspond with. As Suzanne put it on her blog - changing someone's life in an instant or forever, just by a little time and a card.

This month, I am sending a note to an older lady who just had surgery. She and her husband were wonderful friends and mentors. Maybe you would like to join me and be a part of this challenge. You could be the instrument the Lord uses to change someone's life. For an instant, or forever.

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
Colossians 3:15

Marvelous idea! There are so many people to say "thank you" or "I love you" to :)

Great post!! I very rarely receive thank you notes anymore. I try and remind my grown children it is not out of style, not for myself but for others, but it really is hard to impress on them sometimes to take the time to do it. I have found that it is so far from the normal anymore that when I do receive one, I stop and really take notice of it, and makes me glad for whatever I have done.

I am so glad you are joining me in this project this week. To me, it is exciting thinking about what someone thinks when they receive the letters!

I think that a hand written letter or note is so nice to receive. I have made it a point to write a letter a week this year....52 letters. So when I saw this post I was thrilled. We all have the same idea. I love it.

This is wonderful... and a great way to be Christ's Hands to someone. Our bible study group as decided to write to various people in our community, once a month... whether they are recuperating from surgery, grieving, or our kids in college! It's quite a MINISTRY. We can do ALL things through Christ! Amen! THANK YOU!!! And...God's peace to all.

I love to get a note, card or letter in the mail. I realize that it has gone out of style but I believe that it can brighten up the darkest day and bring light to those that are discouraged. It will put a bigger smile on the face of someone who is already smiling. It's a good thing. Thanks for the reminder. Great post!

Thank you for sharing this idea with us. E-mails and e-cards are nice, but you're right. It is still nice to receive a thank you in the mail. Who would have thought that kind of thing would ever go out of style, but I think it just about has. I know it will be a blessing to everyone who receives a card from you.

We've gotten too busy to take the time to sit, with pen and card, and send a note of love and encouragment to just one person, not a list of undisclosed recipiients. Our Lord touched people one at a time. How much more should we? Wonderful post.

I live in Australia and my mother has just entered hospital. She is almost 93yrs, and I know a card with a letter in the mail would mean so much to her..I hadn't considered this. But little heart felt gift means so much.
God Bless.

That is such a sweet idea. I write my mil about twice a month because she is 87 and likes to get mail. So many of her sisters have passed and they used to always write letters to each other with little newspaper clippings from local happenings, recipes and etc the others might be interested in. Mom still has many of those clippings and letters.
