Against the Wind

Against the Wind by Amanda Cabot returns Louisa Vaughn back to her hometown of Sweetwater Crossing. .

Finding an injured man by the side of the road lengthens her stay. Having set his broken leg, she feels compelled to stay and help Josh Porter with his recovery. Although Sweetwater Crossing is in need of a Doctor, the people are against her, even though she has studied with a medical Doctor and is an experienced midwife. Her deep desire is to be a healer in light of opposition to women doing so

Josh Porter is in Texas gathering information to help him achieve his Grandfathers approval for ownership of his New York business. The delay and loss of his beloved horse sets him back.  But his dream is redirected, and his friendship with Louisa turns his heart in a new direction.

I enjoyed this uplifting historical romance. Ms Cabot has written a heartwarming engaging story. Ms. Cabot's writing keeps interest by bringing romance and suspense into the plot. A great historical fiction novel, which is a stand alone story.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
