Many years ago, I met a lady who replenished plants in office buildings. She would take the old ones out, and put new ones in. She gave me a hint to help spruce up a living plant.
She would take mayonnaise......
and wipe down the leaves with a very thin layer.
It would give them shine and luster.
An inexpensive way to spruce up your plants :-)

Wow! What a great tip! Never would have thought of that!
I was aware of this but it does leave the plants a little sticky. At home we did the same thing with milk and it too makes the leaves shiny.
I compile snippets like this in a book, they come from older people or sometimes farmers and are not always well known.
I wonder if it would make my pets want to eat them?
Really, what a fantastic tip! I am delighted that you shared with Home and Garden Thursday,
Kathy
huh, what a neat tip! thanks!
