Much of the food served at modern Thanksgiving dinners includes items from the very first celebration: turkey, ham, dressing, potatoes, numerous other vegetables, bread and puddings.
Initially this meal was held to thank God for the blessings of a good crop, having food for the winter.
Thanksgiving is a very family oriented holiday. Relatives often travel great distances to be with each other to celebrate. Thanksgiving is the busiest travel time of the entire year.
This year our Thanksgiving is taking a new path. We have always celebrated Thanksgiving with my husbands family. But with the home going of my Mother in Love this past spring, we must all start making our own new family traditions.
What are your plans for this Thanksgiving?
May your Thanksgiving be a time of joy and blessings.

Hi Jocelyn!
I usually check out your quilting site to see your latest handiwork, but comment here. Thanks for stopping by my place for a happy greeting upon my daughter's wedding last week. She and new hubby are enjoying their honeymoon in New England and will be taking Thanksgiving dinner with her brother, his wife, and our baby Mackenzie (the jeep riding flower girl) while Ed and I will be alone but for his daughter who will be spending Thanksgiving with us for the first time. She has recently given her life to the Lord and what a new creation in her heart to be thanking the Lord for this year! Restored relationships in Christ and fairy tale weddings glorifying the Lord. Yes - much to be thankful for.
I would love to set a table as festive and overflowing as yours - not sure what I'm doing in that realm, yet. I've a few ideas, though. Will post on it end of week I guess with whatever I come up with!
Joy to you and yours!!
Kathy
Hi, Jocelyn,
Your Thanksgiving table is exquisite!! Everything about it says autumn, abundant harvest, rich blessings!! Wishing you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving. It will be a little harder this year with the passing of your loved one, but as you say, you can always celebrate new traditions. Vicki
