Big Comfy Chair

I love old chairs. There is just something about their charm and grace that is so inviting. Whenever I see an old chair in an antique shop or a thrift store, I want to bring it home with me. Of course that is just not possible. But there should be a sign outside my house - "Home for wayward and lost chairs".

My daughter found this old chair on Craigs List. She loved to lounge and read in this big chair. However, when my daughter was making some changes in her room. she asked if I would swap this chair for a smaller one that I had in our living room. I thought it was a great idea, so we gave it a try.

I've fallen in love with this chair.

It is big, and comfy AND short :-) I'm not very tall, and sometimes my feet barely reach the floor when I sit in an easy chair. This chair has compassion for shorter people. It's old and bumpy, but it encompasses me with it's warm inviting arms. I can sit in this chair and read, or watch the butterflys outside.

It's a dark dreary rainy day here today. Come, sit with me for a while.

Join me for a cup of tea, or we will wrap ourselves up in a good book.

"Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort, of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with the breath of kindess, blow the rest away."
~ George Eliot

Loving your big comfy chair this morning! One of my favorite places on a dark fall day - with book and tea - and your George Eliot quote was well chosen. She was an artist with words - and a worthy read in your cozy corner. Middlemarch and Romola are favorites of mine!
Joy!

I would love to find time to sit in some of my chairs that are similar to yours and just read a book for pleasure, but with homeschooling 2 high school students and 1 middle school student I have no time. My time will come though, and my chairs will be waiting. Thanks for sharing your chair.

What a fabulous chair! Your description was simply beautiful and makes me want to go find my own bumpy old reading chair!

I just love curling up in my big ole chair with a tea and laptop on my lap. Enjoy your chair.

Who doesn't love a big cozy chair in the fall? Preferably when no one is around, the idiot box is OFF, and a good book and hot beverage is close at hand.

I'm with you, I love comfy chairs. It takes everything I have not to buy cozy chairs when I see them while out thrifting. I think I find at least 3 a month and think, "if I only more room!" LOL Thank you for joining TTF and have a fun week!
