Our God is Able

There are times when the fog of life covers over and hides the truth that sets us free. There is a heaviness that brings defeat and despair. When we are so low, we give voice to our struggles and only see our self-interests. We can make a conscience decision to tune out the natural response, and tune into the super-natual realm as revealed through the Word of God.

Prov 18:21. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue."

The words we speak either bind or loose those ministering spirits mentioned in the 1st chapter of Hebrews.
Put voice to the Word of God in faith. Don't put voice to your fear and unbelief. When you hide the Word of God in your heart and then speak it out as confession of faith, you put ministering angels in motion.

OUR GOD IS ABLE. I claim the WORD of God that GREATER is HE that is IN me, then he who is in the world. MY GOD is the GOD of Elijah, Samson, David, Joab, Jashobeam, Eleazar, Shammah, Benaiah, Abishai and Paul

OUR GOD IS ABLE TO DO EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL THAT WE ASK OR THINK Ephesians 3:20

Treasures found

A couple of years ago I spotted this wooden box on the bottom shelf in the back room of a little antique shop.

It was full of buttons, snaps, pins, and other sewing accessories. Of course I needed to add this to my sewing collection.

This is what was inside the box.

It was so fun to see the price of some items being 10c, 29c, 39c, 49c. Even the package of pink rick rack was only 25c for 3 yards!! The box appears to be handmade and has a name on the bottom. I think I paid $3 for the whole box.

Sewing has been a part of my life ever since I took Home Ec back in the 10th grade. I no longer sew garments, but the skills I learned have been put to good use through my quilting experience. When I took my first quilting class 25 years ago, we were cutting fabric with scissors and making cardboard templates. Boy have things changed. And so much for the better.

Bird watching

This Spring has brought many birds to our yard. They are cleaning out my bird feeder so quickly. I've tried to capture a few pictures, but it's difficult. Some of so quick. We've had Blue Jays, Cardinals, Wrens, Chick-a-dee's and even woodpeckers and mourning Doves.

And these little fellows are the frustrated squirrels who keep the ground all cleaned up.

They get the leftovers that spill over from the feeder.

Tea on Tuesday

I've always enjoyed having tea with friends. A beautiful table is so inviting. So I would like to invite you to join me for Tea today.

May I get you a teacup?

Please enjoy the desserts -

Strawberry Shortcake served in petite demitasse cups.

Grill Hut

My husband is an exceptionally good cook. And like a lot of men, he enjoys grilling.

For years he grilled on a Weber kettle.

At some point he decided that he needed more grilling space, so he bought a second grill. Then in order to handle two grills and the food he was grilling, my hubby designed and built a Stainless Steel grill table.

We have a nice large deck off of the back of our home, so this is where the table ended up for a while.

BUT as things would have it, my hubby thought it would be a good idea to have some kind of covering over the grill table, to protect the grills from rain and the droppings from our trees. Last year we saw a grill hut at Sam's Club, but it was too small for the grill table. My hubby considered making a custom one to fit the table.

This year I saw another Grill hut at Bj's that looked a bit larger. Sure enough when hubby went to measure it, he knew it would work.

So here it is........... The Grill Hut

Lots of room to set things up, a hook system to hang paper towels and cooking tools and a counter if you want to serve your food right from the grill (there are pans beneath the grill to catch the charcoal ash and drippings).

I like the Grill Hut facing the deck this way. Eventually I'd like to string some lights for night time grilling.

Looking at the Hut from the backyard.

So many people asked about the Hut from my post last week, that I thought I would write about this little backyard beauty. It sure makes a man happy to grill in style :-)

Sing for Joy

"Let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You. " Psalm 5:11
