The name Okeechobee
comes from the Hitchiti words oki (water) and chubi (big). Mayaimi,
meaning "big water," is the oldest known name, as reported in the 16th
century, by Hernando de Escalante Fontaneda.

Great images, it certainly is flat! I knew many US cities had American Indian names but never thought much about them until I got to New Zealand where many, many towns, rivers, areas and mountains have Maori names.
I'm happy to see your link at 'My Corner of the World' this week!
My Corner of the World
Oh Jocelyn, to have such dark clouds, with hopefully rain in them would be such a blessing for us here in Australia. We too have flat, flat land, but at present all the country is a dust bowl with 7 years (to date) drought. This is after the millennial drought (1999 - 2012).Oh wouldn't we love that lovely green grass around.
Most Australians are trying to think of the positive - it is one day closer to when it will rain, and of course of late the country has been gripped with horrendous heat, wind, dust and wide spread bushfires. Not sure of the figure to date but up to last Friday 1.1million hectares had been burnt by the bushfires.
We had a lot of those clouds last week when the cold spell came through. Hope you had some sunny days too!
I like those dramatic clouds. Very pretty sky shots!!
