Changing the tablecloth and the centerpiece takes these autumn dishes to a new level.

A Little bit of Sweet

Everyone calls for Fall as the month of September has made it's entrance. Our weather has been pleasant enough to sit out on the back porch and sip my tea and enjoy a good book.

Have you met Flavia? She is the star of these books by Alan Bradley. They are a little bit of a mystery series, but oh so fun to read. This is the third book in the series.

Just a little bit of a sweet, and my cup of decaf tea to wash it all down.

I'm starting to bring out my Fall china so this Johnson Brothers cup and saucer seems quite appropriate for today. "Pomona" is the pattern.

Season of Fall

We are entering the season of fall, bringing warm colors to the table.

It's never too early to enjoy these rich colors of the season.

Remembrance

Usa, Ground Zero, United States
In the United States, Sept. 11 has become a day that haunts the nation of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Since the attacks, the day has been called Patriot Day and serves as a day to remember those who lost their lives. The day was passed by Congress on Oct. 25, 2001 and was signed into law by then President George. W. Bush.

"Now, we have inscribed a new memory alongside those others. It’s a memory of tragedy and shock, of loss and mourning. But not only of loss and mourning. It’s also a memory of bravery and self-sacrifice, and the love that lays down its life for a friend–even a friend whose name it never knew." -- President George W. Bush

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.  John 15:13

Fall on the way?

Adding touches of gold and blue, refreshes my table with just a hint of fall.

I love how the china, silverware and glassware all echo the same swirly pattern.

The tea cart is ready for service.

It's already September. Can Christmas be far behind??

A Christmas by the Sea

Wendy Harper inherits a seaside cottage from her late grandparents. Wendy sees this as an opportunity to sell the valuable land and pay off medical debts. Her son, Jackson however, has it in his mind that this will be a new start for him and  his single Mom. Jackson clings to his faith even as Wendy makes her plans to spruce up the cottage and hand it over to a realtor.

Things change when Wendy meets Caleb, as she begins to wonder if she could make her way financially in the small picturesque town.

Melody Carlson wrote a sweet story about the struggles a young single mother faces. I felt the story slowed at times, with Wendy's difficulty in communicating with her son. But this was a warm Christmas story, light hearted and easy to read.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
