Vintage Thingies Thursday

Today is Vintage Thingies Thursday. Be sure to stop over at Coloradolady's blog and check out all the wonderful vintage, thrifty finds!
I've also linked with Thrift Store Thursday and Goodwill Goodies. So please stop by both blogs and take a look see.

On Saturday I needed to run to the post office to mail a birthday package to my little niece. On the way home, I happened to stop in the Goodwill. I haven't been to this particular Goodwill in quite a long time. I came out

So what treasures did I fine, you ask? Well you remember a few posts back when I mentioned that I've been collecting restaurant dishes, most noteably Buffalo china dishs? Well guess what I found at the Goodwill?

I first spied the cups -

hummmm, good price.....

I moved on from the aisle with china and looked around the store. Sometimes I find some good books. For some reason, I went back to the China/Housewares section and took another look.

Not just one plate for that price -

a stack of four plates for $2.06.

Just as I was putting the first stack into my cart, someone starts declaring over the loud speaker what their sale is for the day. And guess what? The dishes are buy one get one free!! Whoo-hoo! So I bought eight plates for $2.06. Now that was a deal for me :-)

I also picked up this lovely little piece -

The marking on this dish is also Buffalo China and it has the number 1916. Now I don't really think this dish is from 1916, but it could have been a trademark date or something. I've never run across Buffalo Fine China before.

So I finally have enough plates to serve a little luncheon.

What time can I expect you??

Thanks for stopping by. Happy Thriftin'

Your Buffalo dishes are great and what a good price! I love restaurant dishes. I have some of Homer Laughlins that I use a lot.

Your fall decorations are lovely, very festive! I passed what I think was a bank with the temperature reading 96 today, it's nice to have fall though even if it's inside with the air conditioning running! Have a great end of the week.

What a great find with those dishes...and the price! How lucky were you to be picking out dishes just as they were making their announcement....it was meant to be!

Another forgotten item from my past. After Friday night football dances we would go to a local restaurant and they had dishes very similar. I am finding this VTT so much fun because it keeps bringing back things long forgotten.

What great finds. I love your dishes. I too have a fondness for restaurant ware, and have recently purchased several pieces, some matched, some mismatched...My daughter exclaimed rather loudly one afternoon that we were not LUBY'S....she does not much care for it, but I love it and use it!

Have a great VTT and a wonderful weekend.

I'll be right over! I love the scalloped edge of those plates! My mom and sister and I were just discussing how we'd like to find some Buffalo China, because that stuff is indestructable. Lucky, lucky you, and at a phenomenal price!
Happy VTT!

I could buy dishes every time I see them, but make myself not do it. I love them and glassware. I have more than I use, but does not keep me from enjoying seeing others. you did very well on your Goodwill outing.

Thanks for directing me to this blog. This is more my thing. While I do like to look at quilts, I sure do like to hit the thrift stores.

I have never heard of Buffalo china; I'll have to look it up so I know what I'm looking for! There is no way on God's green earth that those plates would have been that price at my Goodwill. They would have been marked individually, at the very least $1 each!
You got a great deal!
Thanks for joining TST :)

Jocelyn, send me a pics of the back of the plates where the marks are ... I may be able to tell you something. Lovely pieces ... good for you.

How's the foot coming along now?

I recently stopped at our GW because after reading all your ladies comments about the 'good finds' & having not been for a while since the prices were so HIGH here, I'd take a gander. What a junk shop ... terrible. Good for you all that are having great luck & finds.

Hugs, Marydon
