Welcome

For several years I would host a Christmas tea in my home. It was a fun time to renew friendships and enjoy lunch together.

My mother in love had been such a wonderful example to me when it comes to Hospitality. She was always a most gracious hostess and welcomes everyone that passes through her door. I am thankful today for the gift of Hospitality. When we open our homes, we open our hearts.

Perfect sky

As I was driving home one evening, I couldn't help but be captivated by this beautiful red sky. Just perfect for the Christmas season :-)

Bless our Home

Thanksgiving is a holiday specifically set aside for the purpose of thanking God for His provisions and blessings.  It may be the oldest, continually celebrated holiday in America.

Much of the food served at modern Thanksgiving dinners includes items from the very first celebration: turkey, ham, potatoes, numerous other vegetables, bread and puddings.

Initially this meal was held to thank God for the blessings of a good crop, having food for the winter.

Thanksgiving is a very family oriented holiday.  Relatives often travel great distances to be with each other to celebrate.  Thanksgiving is the busiest travel time of the entire year.

What are your plans for this Thanksgiving?

May your Thanksgiving be a time of joy and blessings.

Vero Beach

Last weekend we traveled down to Vero Beach. Three hours of driving on a long stretch of undeveloped road. But we found some interesting places.

I love these little bit of history signs.

Rock mines and tree farms.

LOTS of tree farms.

Hummm... maybe not all Christmas trees come from up north.

Are you ready?

Fall, Thanksgiving and Christmas is the time of year that my home becomes a palette.  I love shopping the house but it makes for a little challenge here and there.

Most of my serving pieces are white, so with a little burst of color to set off the table, we are ready for Thanksgiving!

I love this beautiful Turkey platter that I found at Goodwill one year.

April Cornell napkins and tablecloth from Kohl's.
Stemware and Soup Tureen from Goodwill.

We're almost ready!

Are you??

Veterans Day

Veterans Day

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War, then known as "the Great War." Commemorated as Armistice Day beginning the following year, November 11th became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars. (credit - History.com)

Traditions

Traditions.  Does your family have traditions for the holidays??  Our family has enjoyed sweet family time with my in laws for as long as I have been married.  But these traditions are changing.  When my hubby's Mom finished her journey here on the earth, she left behind the memories of family gatherings around her big table.  Lots of laughter, discussions, and good food were shared by all. With the passing of my hubby's parents, we started a new tradition of family gatherings.

I love to bring out the Johnson Brothers china.

Cake platter painted by my late mother in love.

There is nothing like the warmth of the Holiday season, setting the mood to radiate love around the table.

Are you ready for the Holidays??  Thanksgiving is only two weeks away!
