Let's not go yet

I'm not really ready to let Fall go.  I know once Thanksgiving is over, Christmas will be in full swing.

But let me savor the warmth of Fall for just a few more days.

The cup and saucer are Noritake made in Japan.

My late Mother in love was a china painter.  Many years ago she tried to teach me how to paint china. This was one of my attempts.

Snuggling under the wrap my sweet hubby brought back from Russia, it's always a cozy spot for tea and reading a good book.

Please join me in visiting these lovely parties.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on our blessings.  I am very grateful for so many things.  A loving husband, a good family, special friends.  But I am most grateful to God for the mercies He shows towards me every day.

So at Thanksgiving, it really isn't about the turkey and food.  It's about giving Thanks. To our Creator who has given all things for us to enjoy.

I started collecting the Friendly Village china several years ago.

Each piece was purchased from our local department store at the end of Christmas sale.

The day after Christmas, the department store would mark down all of their clearance 1/2 price.

Which had allowed me to collect quite a nice table setting.

Our little Pilgrim was carved by a friend many years ago.

I hope your table will be surrounded by friends and family.

Wishing you a Happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

Mount up with wings

Today has been a different day. It is a day full of thoughts and memories. Every year I try not to allow this day to get me down, but something inside of me just won't let it go.

Thirty five years ago today my sweet Mom left her place here on earth and walked the streets of gold. She left suddenly and quickly. Which does not make it easy on family.

"Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted."

I know thirty five years seems like a very long time, but when you are young and you lose your Mom, there is a hole left in your heart. It really does not heal, but it becomes like a wound that has a scar over it. You always know it is there.

With time the pain does subside, but the memories are still there. And I am so thankful that our loving Lord has come along side of me to lift me up on the days when the memories bring back pangs of pain.

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Spread your wings............

And We Give Thanks

It's seems so hard to believe that Thanksgiving is only two weeks away.  Thanksgiving is more than eating turkey and pumpkin pie. It's a time to reflect and give Thanks to God for His goodness and mercies.

Let's remember to give thanks for the every day things in life.

Downton Tea

The award winning TV series, Downton Abbey, has captivated millions of viewers from around the world.   Every episode is an explosion of drama, relationships and intrigue. Downton Abbey is the aristocratic home of the Crawley family and their servants.

With all of it's mystery and twists and turns, I was enthralled to find a Downton Abbey tea from The Republic of Tea company.  Who would not want to sit with the Crawley sisters for High Tea at their hundreds year old mansion.

I can't think of a better way to spend afternoon Tea.
