At the end of the summer, my daughter and I visited Hobby Lobby, and guess what I found on clearance!! Yay!!
The words for the Star-Spangled Banner, written by Francis Scott Key, sprang to life as he was observing the bombardment of Fort McHenry during the War of 1812. Originally it was a poem of Key's entitled, "Defense of Fort McHenry," that came to be sung to the tune of "To Anacreon in Heaven". It's melody was attributed to an Englishman named John Stafford Smith. Benjamin Carr of Baltimore published the first musical edition of "The Star-Spangled Banner." that grew in popularity with the passage of time. In 1931 an act of Congress made it official national anthem of the United States. (Source)
Thanking God for the Freedom to enjoy Independence Day!
Oh, say, does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

I love all things patriotic, and this is perfect. Your plate is so timely right now when those in government think our anthem should be something less heroic. Thanks for posting!!
The plate is so cute. I love it. God Bless American indeed.
Love your ideas!
What a beautiful table and I too love that plate.

Hi, Ellen! I saw those at Hobby Lobby just the other day. I will have to wait until the end of the season to pick one up, though, because they were still pretty pricey. I would want to buy at least 4 and use them as chargers, and that could really take a big bite out of my bank account!!! You've set a beautiful table using this one as a centerpiece focal point. I hope you and yours enjoyed a safe and fun holiday!
What a fun platter and using for the centerpiece is perfect! Come link up to Centerpiece Wednesday on my blog and share you idea with us.
