Let's have lunch

Remember when these sand hill cranes visited our neighborhood with their little chickies??

At first there were two chicklets, but after a while I only saw the mama and papa with one baby. Sad to think what may have been the fate of the other baby.

On Saturday afternoon, my sweet hubby went out the front door to get our mail, and who should be visiting our front yard?

I'm not really sure if this was mama and papa, but I have a feeling this was mama and the one chicklet that has grown up. When my hubby went outside, she started making a most horrible loud squawking noise. THEY were not going to move!

Nope, they just resumed feasting on their lunch!

Please join me at Outdoor Wednesday.

How cute is that little guy with the long legs! I saw my first sandhill crane while traveling in Oregon this summer. What a treat...of course, they weren't in my yard!

Oh how wonderful! I love the Sandhill Cranes. It is so sad that their numbers are so depleted. It makes me happy when I see the babies. Great pictures Jocelyn!

Hi Jocelyn,
Great pictures. They sure like spreading the trash all over on trash day. They would also knock on the sliding glass doors wanting fed. Cool birds!

That is so cool. It reminded me of one day seeing a blue heron on the steps of my pool when I lived in the desert.
