Here is what one little drip can lead to!
Extensive damage, caused by a leak in the kitchen faucet that we did not catch. We were in the process of getting our old house ready to put on the market. After returning from a trip out west last fall, we found water pooled on the counter. It had migrated and the lower cabinets were swollen with water. Which led to tearing out all of the lower cabinets and drywall.
Thankfully the new floor was not affected.
The drywall was torn out and replaced. We had new lower cabinets made and the upper ones resurfaced.
And here is how it looks today, after the renters moved in.
Sometimes a bad thing can turn out to be a good thing. This house was built in 1956, and was in need of some upgrading. Having to tear out the cabinets allowed us to replace the water heater and some very old pipes. With fresh paint and new carpet, a young couple has rented our house. It's good to have life back into our little house.

WOW. That's a big job - but it looks great! I think I'll go check my pipes....
You certainly reacted positive, where some might be quiet upset. A lot of work and obviously it paid off. Great job!
That stinks! we had a similar water issue in our bathroom and found it because the cabinet was growing mushrooms - i do not lie!
We are running a Before and After Link party to support Habitat for Humanity, with a chance to be featured on other big blogs and win gift cards. Would love if you entered! http://www.oneprojectcloser.com/2012-before-after-series/
