This throw is one of the first things I remember her making.
Then she got into Granny squares.
I love this next one. I believe she meant for it to be a tablecloth, but I could never put it on the table (unless it had a plastic protection)
Isn't it gorgeous?And she made lots of dresser scarfs.
Now these pillowcases were not made by my Mom, but by my sweet hubbys aunt. She gave these to me as a wedding present.

I love crocheted things! My mother was always with a crochet needle in her hand. I never really learned more than the chain stitch and popcorn stitch. Sure wish I learned more. Thanks for sharing.
I like crocheted things too. One of my grandmothers crocheted afghans, and I have an old one she gave me when I was a child. It is in the zigzag pattern like your first one, but the yarns are all dark colored scraps.

It is easy making thing like this if you have the talent. Back in the older days. there was little else to do at night. They spent a lot of time and put more into it than most do today. I have boxes and drawers full of crochet,linens and throws that have been handed down. I treasure all of them as you should yours.

Those are beautiful items! My mom crocheted, tatted, sewed, knit, all that handcraft stuff. I have a few of her things in use at my home. She has macular degeneration and can no longer do what she used to. I treasure the things she made!
My elderly neighbor from my childhood crocheted constantly. I have many dresser scarfs and doilies from her. I used to help her starch them.

That pillowcase crochet design must have really been popular. I had some like that, a friend of mine brought me some that she had in her family to turn into a little dress for her niece, and another friend had the same large pink and green flower that she used on a dress. Beautiful!!!! Your mother was very talented. I love the one on the trunk!

I love all of your beautiful treasures. Especially because of the sentimental value. I have several table cloths and dollies and had not considered them vintage until now. My grandmother made most of the ones I have. I posted the winner of the truck contest my sisters and I had back in September. I also am having a give away for my 100th blog in just a few days so hope you will be able to come by for a visit. Debbie
My mom has always crocheted - I remember those glaringly ugly vests I had to wear in the early 70's *shudder* But she's still going, with wonderful afghans.
I love the ripple one in your first pic, the colors look modern now, don't they? And the lovely thread crochet - sigh. I never could do that. You have some beautiful treasures!

These are so lovely, what treasures! I used to crochet and I made these patterns too. I have heart patterns. So sad, I quit about 10 years ago, and now I am hooked in blogging. Hehehe.
The doilies are so delicate. And the blankets so keep you warm in the cold weather.
I use mine in non-use kinds of ways. Guest room pillows (until real guests come, then I put on ones for use) and pillows that are for show. Yours are over-the-top beautiful! I have some from hubby's grandma as well as some I've picked up in my thrifty adventures!

Oh my, that crocheted table cloth is gorgeous! I hope you will use it. Put it on the table when you don't have anything greasy or that will stain. :-) And those pillowcases are lovely! I use embroidered/crocheted pillowcases on my beds all the time. Maybe you could just use them on the "decorative" pillows, not the ones you sleep on. That would keep them new looking.
What fabulous heirlooms you have! They remind me of the crocheted items I received from my grandmother and great grandmother. Shortly before my grandmother passed away she crocheted a gorgeous table cloth for a wagon wheel dining room table my father made when I was 3 or 4. Until I bought my current home, I displayed it on the wagon wheel table but I always took it off when we ate. I really miss having the space to have that table set up and show off such gorgeous work. I also use my embroidered and crocheted pillowcases on my beds but not on the pillows I use for sleeping.
