Today I am joining ColoradoLady for Vintage Thingie Thursday. Please be sure to visit her blog and find all the other great and interesting vintage posts.
As I have been finding more publications that my mother had saved, I came across these from the newspaper.
The first Lunar flight dated July 21, 1969.
What an exciting time that was. The first man on the moon!
Today with all the space travel and people living in the Space Station, it hardly seems news worthy anymore. But back in 1969, it was BIG news.
Thanks for stopping by. It is always a pleasure to have you come and visit. Have a great week!

Space exploration is like everything else - evolution! Looking back is so cool.
It was big news. I remember sitting in front of the TV with my family as we all watched the first man walk on the moon. It was very exciting!
Hope you're having a great week.

The TV & Radio newspaper reminds me of the painting I did of the moon landing:

I remember watching this on TV with my dad, sister, and brothers. It was riveting, even on the old black & white Zenith with bad reception. Cool that she kept these for all that time!
I can't even tell you how jealous I am that you have those! They are great! I love vintage magazines and newspapers. I have a few of Times magazine. Just the other night my husband and I watched a show about the race to the moon. What an exciting time in our history. Happy VTT!
I remember watching this on TV. It was special, because we had an American exchange student staying in our family that year, and I remember she was homesick that night, wanting to share the moment with her own family.
I had forgotten the year but remember this happening.
I made my boys watch the first lunar landing on a B&W TV, they were 12 months & two and a half but I wanted them to always know they saw this historical moment.
This happened 4 days after my 16th birthday and I remember it well.
Great reminder of this time....great items that were saved. Have a great VTT.
Things have improved, but it does not change the fact this is still history. I think it is great she saved these for the younger generation to see what happened they will never witness.
What an exciting time that was..and how wonderful that you have one of the original articles. Happy VTT..have a great weekend.
Oh wow that is a piece worth sharing to young generation. Thanks for sharing.

These are neat. The day we landed on the moon, I was 8 months pregnant with our first child. We had a bunch of people over and I was jumping up and down, they were afraid I would go into labor. Such an exciting time.

Hi, Your 1969 newspaper is in good condition. How lucky it was saved for us to share 41 years later.
Very Big News, and very exciting times, the beginning of the Space Age! Thanks for sharing. Peace, Stephanie
How cool! I also love reading the human interest stories in old newspapers and let's not forget the advertisements!
