November Tablescape

Traditions.  Does your family have traditions for the holidays??  Our family has enjoyed sweet family time with my in laws for as long as I have been married.  But these traditions are changing.  When my hubbys Mom finished her journey here on the earth, she left behind the memories of family gatherings around her big table.  Lots of laughter, discussions, and good food were shared by all.

So this year we start new traditions.  I'm not exactly sure what they will be just yet, but I have auditioned a November table as a start for the Holiday season.

I love to bring out the Johnson Brothers china.

Cake platter painted by my late mother in love.

There is nothing like the warmth of the Holiday season, setting the mood to radiate love around the table.

Are you ready for the Holidays??  Thanksgiving is only two weeks away!

Good morning Jocelyn,

I think you've hit it just right- making a table with pretty details and a treasured family piece like your mother in-law's hand painted platter are just perfect! Our family gets together at my sisters but it's 250 miles away for me. I hit and miss it. I've been working on her to use real dishes and not paper plates LOL... we get served buffet style and take a place at a table. One way or another just getting together seems to be the most important part.

Stunning. I am hooked on Transferware too and it speaks loudly to me on holidays. A bit of nostalgia I believe!

That first holiday without a loved one is always hard! Your table looks lovely -- I have always admired that Johnson Brothers pattern, and my new daughter-in-law has a lovely big set from her grandmother. I look forward to playing with it at some point -- maybe when I go to meet my new granddaughter early next year!

It's so hard to believe Thanksgiving is just 2 weeks away! It has just sort of snuck up on me. It looks like you're rarin' and ready to go, though! I love your dishes!!! They set the perfect scene for the holidays. Even the name suggests that they are holiday-oriented! :-) I hope you and your family enjoy creating new traditions as well as reveling in the old ones. Take care, and have a great weekend!

I think I have been feeling the same things, about everything changing. I caught my breath when I saw the Friendly Village because my cousin who is 92 always uses hers for the holidays. Her journey is about over, too, and it just makes me so sad.

Your table looks just wonderful!
I love all the warm Autumn colours and decorations you've used.
We don't have Thanksgiving here in Australia..but when I see photos of how my northern friends celebrate it I'm tempted to join in anyhow!
I love Johnson Brothers china patterns :-)
Have a blessed day..Trish

Lovely table, Jocelyn. Johnson Brothers do have wonderful dishes. The first year you try to carry on the family tradition is the hardest, then it will just seem to fall into place.

Thank you so much for telling me about this post. I am loving this china! Your collection is wonderful and you have set a gorgeous table. My dear mother was big on family traditions and gatherings. I have tried to carry that on with my own family. There's nothing quite like being surrounded by those you love. I would love for you to share this with My Share Your Cup Thursday link party.
Hugs,
Jann

Love the tablescape - the dishes are terrific. We normally get together with my siblings - since my parents have passed away - it is wonderful to continue to get together and to start new traditions.
I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
