Vintage Sandwich Dishes

For many years, when I would go "hunting" with my hubbys Aunt, we would be on the look out for these vintage dishes.

I've collected several designs and have at least 8 to 10 servings for each design. Not as many of the cups though. And unfortunately when I was bringing these dishes down from the cabinet, one of the cups made a crash landing on my unforgiving tile floor :-(

But isn't it fun to use these pretty glass sandwich dishes for a special occasion or luncheon?

Oh I just adore these sets! What a beautiful collection, I love it! Sorry you had a cup landing on tile floors, I hate that, they just brake in thousand little pieces...it's happened to the best of us. Hugs,

We had everyone bring the sets they had for an American Girls Fashion Show and Play Tea that the girls put on last year. We were two sets short, so I even chipped in a couple of green glass sets. They blended in with the pink and white tables with fresh flowers splendidly and surprisingly.

You can often find orphan cups at thrift shops like Salvation Army and Goodwill. Often when people donate sets they don't even sell the cups with the plates. You should be able to get a replacement fairly easy.

Who knows what else you might find when you are there!

I love those sets! I grab them up each time I see them at Goodwill and Salvation Army. They are so pretty for luncheons and teas!

I have 3 of the same sets, rectangle, wheat & snowflake. My mother had 8 of the rectangle sets when I was growing up, so I always loved them. My grandmother had the wheat, so I asked for them when I was in college. The snowflakes I found in an antique shop many years ago. I love them all.

I think I have the same platinum banded crystal, too!

Plus the food looks great, too!

You can still find some like these. Most places want too much for them. You have a nice collection.

Those are just wonderful! They'd definitely be great for feeling spoiled to eat off them!

Oh my GOODNESS! This is the SECOND vintage thingies post today with these sets in it - - - the other post even had that SAME rectangular set.

My mom was a pastor's wife and had three or four of these sets which she used at ladies' functions. I've been WONDERING lately where they went - - - sure wish I still had them!

Maybe I'm gonna hafta put some of these on my wish list and hunt them down.

yes, I do love these! I have several sets of luncheon plates that I use to change things up a bit. I have the same set that you used in your last photo. And I have a set from Troy's grandmother that I treasure! Thank you for sharing with us on TTF and have a great weekend!

Love these! I have a couple of sets of vintage luncheon plates also. It is fun to use them and the little punch cup also. If not for 'punch' then fruit or soup. I don't have any square one's but they are really cool! hugs, Linda

I'm so happy to see someone else who collects and uses these great plates and cups! My dad used to pick these up for my mom wherever he happened to see them (his job required him to be out and about), and now she has TONS of them, and by default I have them too! We use them all the time for parties. Thanks for sharing your collection! ~Zuni

I am attracted to these sets, too, and have collected a few. I love the different shapes and patterns of yours. I really like seeing them all laid out next to each other. Eye candy!!!

I'm inspired by your tablescape to begin using mine in everyday life. They are too pretty and functional not to use.

Loved this post!

They are fantastic! Love your collection. My mom has lots of those too and we were able to use them many years back for my bridal shower. And baby shower I think! Great memories.

You are welcome to link up your thrifty finds over at our thrift party every friday.

I love those too! I have some I use to collect and have my mom's like your rectangle ones with the ridges running down on the underside with the squarish cups. I bought some and inherited hers. Have some that were my M-i-L's too. Never seen the snowflake ones before.

Remember my mom using hers for luncheons and Sunday nights when my dad's family would come...seemed that night it would be summer and she'd serve chicken salad...Thanks for the memories!!!
