Chili for Chilly

I love living in the South. The balmy weather makes for very pleasant days almost year round. But about this time of year, someone always leaves the door open from the frigid North and we get bombarded with pretty cold weather.

So on days like today, I love to make a pot of Chili to serve up hot and filling. Add a little salad on the side and what a great meal to ward off the cold weather.

I love these beautiful dishes that I found at Goodwill a few months ago. I nearly left them because they only had Soup bowls and salad plates. I'm so glad I decided to bring them home.

Soup and Salad dishes - Mornay by Mikasa (Goodwill)
White Chargers - Westbury Court by PTS International (Home Goods)
Soup Tureen - Nortake (Antique shop)
White plates with silver rim - Royalton China (my Mom was given a place setting every time we bought gas at the Shell station many years ago. Do you remember those days?)

This is the classiest chili dinner I have ever seen. I am outnumbered by testosterone here at my place. Thanks for giving me more hope!

The chilly North winds have come here too! In this old house everything is cold! Love living in the south - it will be back up to the 60's in a couple days!
Chili is perfect for days like today - your table setting is wonderful! Thank you for sharing with A Return to Loveliness,
God Bless,

I love that covered tureen! Just lovely.
DH is the chili maker here, He makes it every year for the beach party we have here in our community. It feeds over 100! That's a lot of chili.
Yours looks very good!

Chili at a setting fit for royalty. I love that you use your mom's plates collected from the gas station give aways. I remember trips to the Green Stamp store with my mama when I was a little girl. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Happy New Year! Cherry Kay

Cold....puh-leeze!!! :-) You know what, though? It has been quite nice here in the Midwest so far this winter. Today reached the upper 50s, and tomorrow is expected to reach the mid 60s. Woo hoo!!! We are SO happy!!! There has been no snow or ice to deal with, the furnace hasn't been running constantly, and we can actually run around in shirt sleeves! I know it's comin', but we are loving every minute of this nice weather right now! For the "cold" South right now, though, chili sounds just perfect! There is nothing that warms the soul (and the tummy!) quite like it. It is beautifully served (with that terrific salad!) on your new plates. Isn't Goodwill wonderful when you find great stuff like that? :-) Stay warm, and Happy New Year!
