Christmas nights

At Christmas, do you ever just sit by the tree and take in the beauty of the season?

After everyone has gone to bed, do you fill a plate with some sweet goodness, make a hot cup of tea and just enjoy the quietness of the evening?

Do you sometimes wonder what the Shepherds thought on that night, so many years ago, when the Angelic host proclaimed the birth of Jesus?

What an awe filled experience that must have been.

And for now, I will turn the lights down low, and pretend the twinkling of the Christmas tree are the stars of the Universe proclaiming the birth of our Savior, Christ the Lord.

Hi Jocelyn,
I never had a tea in the evening in front of the Christmas tree. That is a great idea. I will do this on Christmas. Your sparkling and glittering tree looks beautiful. A if millions of snowcrytals are twinkling. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you!
Best greetings, Johanna

I love sitting by the tree with only the tree lights illuminating the room. Your decorations are beautiful. BTW, I have the Christmas ornaments of the Mitford snowmen that Hallmark put out years ago.

Your home looks so lovely! I am the same as you, I sit with a mug of hot chocolate, or a cup of tea and I gaze at the tree, thinking of all the blessings in my life, just letting myself look at all the beauty in my life. The tree just seems to bring that out in me. I think it is all the twinkling lights.
Hugs and Merry Christmas.

What a beautiful post - I love to do that too - and on Christmas Eve, when the boys were small, we'd turn out all the lights except the tree, and the hanging lights and twinkling stars on the ceiling, and read the story of the infant Jesus from Luke. Thank you for that lovely reminder!

Hi Jocelyn,
Your post is beautiful! I enjoy just sitting quietly in front of the tree with a cup of tea and letting my mind wander too.
That first Christmas must have been awesome in so many ways. I'm so happy it has been written down for us to read about it and ponder such marvellous things.
I am so thankful He came the first time and I am looking forward to His return as well.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thank you for making Tea Time so special with your presence each week.

Christmas blessings,
Sandi

Merry, Merry Christmas dearest sweet lady Jocelyn,

I felt the most delicious feelings of nostalgia , a oneness in my mind and heart with past Christmas memories when you asked your poignant questions..,

Your tree is certainly bright and oh-so pretty with all of those sparkling lights and ornaments;I love your pretty tea tray of goodies, as you drink in the quietude at the end of the day..,What a lovely living room as well.

Yet it is indeed, 'He who came to seek and to save that which was lost' that we celebrate as those angels and shepherds did two thousand years ago. I love Him, and thankfully you have shared your love of Him as well with the story of the nativity. It is Jesus Christ we look for with all of our hearts. How awe inspiring and beyond joyfully glorious indeed!..,

Thanks ever so much for also inspiring us richly and sharing with us all of your marvelous posts as you have joined us for, 'T and TTT', and also for, 'Tuesday Tea For Two'!

May God richly bless you and yours during this coming Christmas and also in the New Year in 2012 dear lady.

Hugs, Wanda Lee (and Pam)
