Vintage Thingie Thursday

Vintage. What exactly is Vintage?

Websters Dictionary has several definitions. But this one is probably the most accurate for my Vintage thingies.

1. representing the high quality of a past time

This little dress is my Christening Dress
! It was all hand made by a relative. I don't know who made it, or even where it was made. My parents were in their 40's when I was born, so a lot of their friends and relatives were older too. It is a beautiful silk with all the lace work intricately done. I really treasure still having this dress.

These are my little booties. They are at least (uh-hum) 50 years old. Cute, huh?

Do you have any of your "vintage" clothing from when you were a child?

Join me visiting Coloradolady's Vintage Thingie Thursday.

How gorgeous! Lucky that is was handed down. Yes, my mom kept all the dresses I had any formal pictures taken it. I found them all in her cedar chest.

Yes, I do have vintage things from my childhood. In fact, I have my little shoes as well with a few other things.

It's so wonderful that you have your christening dress! It must have been very well taken care of, because it looks so beautiful and in great condition. I have alot of my clothes from when I was little. Well, sort of. My Mom and Grandma made alot of quilts out of them, and I can look at a square of one of the quilts and remember a certain dress or shirt that I had!

Wow, that is a gorgeous dress. I have some childhood clothing that I shared in a few posts this summer, ooh, and more to come, thanks for the reminder! And those booties are just too cute.

What a beautiful dress. It's so intricate. And really in great shape for it's age (not that you are that old, because then I would be too).

The dress and shoes are just gorgeous! How wonderful that you still have them. What prompted me to write, however, is that my parents had me when they were in their 40s as well. I always feel like we have a lot in common (tea cups, sewing machines, quilting, etc.), and it is not very common to find other people who's parents had them in their 40s, especially in my generation. (I'm 38.)

Thank you for posting this. God bless!
