Vintage Thingie Thursday

It has been many weeks since I have been able to post on VTT, and I have sorely missed it! I love seeing what special treasures everyone shares on this blog party. And I always enjoyed finding a treasure or two myself.

But this week I wanted to share a different kind of treasure. They are not really vintage, at least not yet. But it is an art form that is not being renewed with the younger generation. So please let me introduce to you the very beautiful china pieces that have been painted by my sweet mother in love.

My hubbys mother started china painting after all of her children were grown.

I'm sure she thought it was just a hobby to fill her "empty nest".

But she became quite good at her art, and continued painting for over 30 years.

She dabbled in painting glass, and has painted some very beautiful lamps.

She enjoyed it so much that she started teaching some of her friends. She even tried to teach me!

Almost two years ago she became quite ill, and has been on the long road to recovery.

Parkinson's has taken away the ability of my mother in love to hold a paint brush. So the paints, pallet, and china sit silently now.

I know many people think that painted china is very old fashioned. But I dearly love it, and have enjoyed these many pieces that were given to me by my second mother.

Please be sure to stop by Suzanne's blog and visit her blog party Vintage Thingie Thursday :-)

It may be old fashion to some, but it is beautiful art from a skillful hand. These are wonderful pieces and should really be treasured if your mother-in-law's health is failing. Thank you for sharing her work as well some of her personal life.

The painted china is absolutely beautiful and such a treasure coming from your Mother in Love. My dad had Parkinson's and I know how it robs people of doing what they have always loved. I'm glad you have treasured these pieces and thanks for sharing them with us.

Oh my gosh those are so beautiful - hubby's grandmother started china painting when her kids were grown and gone, and she continued until a stroke disabled her. Her pieces are carefully guarded by her one remaining daughter. You have quite the treasure there!

These are beautiful. I recently found some pieces and they were dated 1941, I'll have to show them off in a week or two. What wonderful family treasures these are from your MIL. Hope her to have better days ahead. Happy VTT!

What beautiful pieces. I love hand painted porcelain, your mother in love is very talented. I am so sorry she has Parkinsons, my grandmother suffered from that disease the last 10 years of her life.

These are so beautiful! I am not going to say that this style is my favorite, as a whole, but I love pictures *5 and *6. The fact that they come from a person that you call "mother in love" makes them all the more beautiful.
I so much enjoyed my very first visit to a Vintage Thingie participant. Please stop by my post at Happy Turtle. Have a beautiful weekend.

They are beautiful, she has talent. Too bad she can't paint any longer.

Your mother in law is very talented. I know you treasure the things she did. I have a sister who does this kind of art. I will show this to her. She uses a lot of clay flower pots for her art. Doylene
