So many things have changed over the years. It seems that in February we used to celebrate George Washington's birthday, and then there was Lincoln's birthday. Over the years it was combined to celebrate Presidents Day. I am not really sure that school children now know the significance of honoring our Presidents. It is just a day off from school and more retail sales.
I came across these Look magazines that were packed away in the old suitcase. I guess my Mom had saved them.
I only have two of them, although the front page states there were three parts.
There really are no words.
Please be sure to visit Suzanne's Colorado Lady blog for the other Vintage Thingie Thursday posts.
Wishing you a peaceful week.

You're right..there really are no words.
Have a wonderful VTT and a great weekend..
What a heart-wrenching time for our nation. I can understand why your mother kept them. Thanks for sharing them today.
I was very young when Kennedy died. But I have been greatly moved by that quote... "ask not what your country can do for you- ask what you can do for your country." I think it had a great influence on how I raised my children and how I chose to lead my own life.
Seeing those does make you stop for just a moment. these two magazines are really good keepsakes to be handed down.
Have a wonderful day!
Thank you for keeping those magazines and sharing this with us.
I was in high school when Kennedy was shot, and remember it all very well, including the magazine. School children today, hopefully have a teacher that presents a lesson on Presidents Day. Both of the magazines are great keepsakes.
These are wonderful pieces of history to have. I was too young to remember the day but I know it is one of history's defining moments.
I always loved looking through the LOOK and LIFE magazines when I was growing up.

I remember when the switch was made from celebrating a seperate day for Washington and Lincoln's birthdays to our current President's Day. That LOOK magazine is a get peek at history.
Blessings!
Gail
A nice history reminder. I recall when all this happened.
It so nice to hold a piece of history, the internet is fantastic but having a magazine or book is so neat. I remember when I was in 11th grade-the whole world started to grieve.
Beautiful post.

I was four years old when President Kennedy was killed, but I remember my parents watching the tv in Canada where we live. What a sad time in American history.
What a wonderful piece of history and a great thing to preserve and pass down!
Kennedy was killed on my birthday so I always remember the date.
I still remember where I was when Kennedy was killed....and we got off school the day of the funeral. I was only in 2nd grade, but I do remember the announcement over our loud speaker. A very sad day.
Amazing....they just had a piece on the news last week, where a 15 yr. old filmed in color Kennedy getting off the plane, it was about a minute long, never before seen....said the person who filmed it was a amateur and was in his 60's. it really was amazing to see. Happy VTT!
I too remember when this happened: I was still living in Italy and in school; the janitor came into the classroom and told us what happened... so sad....
Hello, Jocelyn,
You have quite a treasure there with those two Look magazines. I will forever remember that day. His death made a lasting impact on our country and the world. Thank you for sharing. I hope you have had a lovely week. Vicki
I was in elementary school but I still remember this event. The magazine photos are a nice momento, today's internet news doesn't quite have the same lasting effect.
Even I remember when and how I heard of President Kennedy's murder, and I live in Finland. The world changed.
History, so much to learn from it.
Thanks for sharing.
