Keepers of the Covenant

This is the first book I've read written by Lynn Austin. "Keepers of the Covenant" is a compelling story bringing to life Old Testament Bible characters. The book gives insight into how the Jewish people must have felt as they were faced with annihilation.

Even as the Old Testament is woven throughout this story, I was most taken by the last portion of the story.

The scholar Ezra shares -
"God's plan is often hidden from us in such a way that we can't see what He's doing. We may feel abandoned by Him and wonder what He is doing and why He has left us all alone. But of course He isn't missing at all, just as He isn't really missing in Esther's story. He's always right beside us, only a prayer away, working out events for our salvation. He wants us to trust Him in faith, even when we can't see or understand what He is doing."

And so it is also true for us today. I often think we push aside the stories of those in the Old Testament, but Ms Austin breathes life into the stories of old and applies God's rich principles for us today.

Thank you to Bethany House for providing "Keepers of the Covenant" for my review.

Hi there, Great Review! I saw this book available, but choose one quick and easy-I've got so much going on right now that I knew I wouldn't be able to read it; maybe this winter.
Have a wonderful weekend.
