Let's hear it for Corningware!

When I got married in the 70's Corningware was a very popular wedding gift. I chose this pattern, mostly because it was a newer design than the Blue Cornflower.

When my Mom passed away, I inherited her Blue Cornflower.

I really like using my Corningware. It's durable, safe for the microwave or oven and very easy to clean. So when I find pieces at the Thrift store or Goodwill, if it's a good price I pick them up.

Some designs I am not familiar with, but these larger pieces are great for casseroles or serving up soup or stew.

And then there are these smaller pieces.

I found this old dish rack at Goodwill once, and it's a great way to store the glass lids.

I don't pay more than $3 or $4 for Corningware and they usually come with the lids. So even though I did not start out to collect Corningware, I've enjoyed using them so much, they have become a little collection in my kitchen. You can't beat a product that has endured over 30 years of heavy use.

I have my 1970s blue cornflower Corning Ware & use it every day. At least you don't have to worry about plastic compounds leaching into the food when you microwave in them! And I just think they're pretty! Thanks for the reminder.

I have many pieces of blue cornflower that I've used now since the late 1960's!!! We live near to a Corningware outlet store, too....and sometimes I pick up a nice piece there. I always feel it's a nice gift for someone starting out with housekeeping, too!

I am so glad you linked up your collection of Corningware. . .it is a work horse in the kitchen but lovely to look at as well. I love the blue cornflower, and I bet it brings back happy memories of your mom when you use it. To me, that is what collecting is all about.
Thanks so much, and hope to see you next month!

I'm a Corning ware lover also. I have a few of the bigger pieces, but use small ones now that there are just the hubby and me. My sister-in-law was getting rid of some pieces several years ago and I questioned her sanity! I brought home her "cast outs", which are some of my most used pieces. I think the young people turn up their noses, but as Molly said, "workhorse of the kitchen"!

Corning Ware is a great product and will be around when some of the modern things are gone. I have some pieces like the two top pictures in your post.

I have two pieces of the same pattern you have, the first one. I've used them since the seventies, a Christmas gift from a SIL. I have other pieces too, a staple in the kitchen. You sure have great pieces, I love your Mom's cornflower.

Hi Jocelyn:
Love your blog. Thank you for stopping by mine and your kind remarks. I would have answered your comment there, but I couldn't figure out how to :)! I quilt too and love sewing machines, I have an old Viking D1 on layaway, right now. Thanks again for your kind words.

I love it too! I have a few pieces, but not near enough! I like the cornflower blue, my mom used to have that pattern, but I have no idea what happened to it! Happy VTT!

I so agree about Corningwear. Mine has been going strong for nearly 37 years. I like the grab it bowls too.

You have a wonderful collection of Corningware. As a young bride 45+ years ago, I received lots of the blue cornflower. I think over the years most of got broken or given away, sadly, I don't have even one piece left!

You're right---Corningware is good, sturdy stuff! My mom had blue cornflower and another one with spring flowers on it. When I graduated high school, she got me the set with purple hearts and green leaves---just the dishes though. I've since bought a set with red flowers along the edges but saw a set in Target with BIRDS on it that I really love! Thanks for showing off your collection! Hope you have a great weekend!

Most of the Corningware I've bought is the simple French White as well as other single-serve in just white. But in the past few years I've been buying the Cornflower blue pattern at thrift shops. They are so durable...I consider them an American classic.
