Antiques and Old Lace

My beautiful Gardenia bush has been sharing it's fragrant flowers in abundance.  Between the Gardenia and Jasmines, the fragrance has been a delight to the senses.  Come join me as we sit on the porch and breathe in the sweet floral incense.

The lace tablecloth belonged to my Mom and she had it for as long as I can remember.  The luncheon napkins were a gift from my step-mother who brought them back from Spain in the early 70's.

Pottery Teapot made in England.

Crystal Pitcher was a gift from my hubby's Aunt.  She passed away last year at the age of 96.

The inspiration for this post.

I have a chair waiting for you.

Let's enjoy the moment.

  1. What a beautiful table with an all white theme. When we lived in Texas I adored my gardenias but my husband would sneeze so I had to enjoy them out of doors. Your table is lovely!

  2. My gardenias are blooming too. It is wonderful to be able to sit outside with a cup of tea and *drink* in the scent of the flowers. Lovely white teascape you've created for us today. Lovely glass pitcher. Happy Tea Day!

  10. Wow Jocelyn, I love the fresh whiteness of your table. I can almost smell the gardenias. I'd love to grow gardenias but can't in either one of my countries. :( But you know, today I was visiting a friend's greenhouse and he has a blooming lemon tree; is that ever a fantastic smell. Now I want a greenhouse!

  15. You have somewhat of an international table going on here, Jocelyn, with the napkins from Spain, the teapot from England...it's like the U.N. of tables! :-)

My Mom would be thrilled with the gardenias in your garden! She LOVES the fragrance!!!!!!! I love the blooms, too, but for a different reason. When I was in high school, I saw the movie "Lady Sings the Blues" with Diana Ross. She portrayed legendary Billie Holliday, who always wore a white gardenia in her hair when she performed. I LOVED that movie, and that's when I fell in love with gardenias.

So, so pretty!!! I hope you enjoy a beautiful Mother's Day weekend! Take care!!!

  16. Lucky you to have fresh gardenias. My gardenia bush didn't survive, and I've not tried another. I did give one to my sister this year for her birthday. Hope it's blooming for her. Your table is lovely!

  18. Simply divine. I love that you cherish and use the pretty things that were so caringly cared for by others. I love gardenias and usually buy one plant a year. They just don't like it out here in West TExas. xo marlis

  19. Your whites are beautiful! I would love smelling your gardenias and jasmine. I tried to grow them in my gardens and overwinter them inside but they just don't thrive in our climate.
