For years I have watched my father in law crack Pecans with this nut cracker. So recently when we were given a sack of Pecans, we asked to use it to expedite the process.

Place the pecan into the adjustable slot.
Give the handle a whack

And the pecan shell peels like a banana ;-)

I'm not sure how long ago my father in law made this nutcracker, but it sure has been a handy old tool.
I love pecans...we have fantastic varieties out here on the prairie. I want one of those great old tools! Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteI've never seen pecans in their shells before. Fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a nutcracker like that one. We are very lucky, we get our pecans for free. One of our neighbors has a pecan tree and it leans over on our property and we just go out and pick them up. HA! HA!
ReplyDeleteLove this. It reminds me of something my husband would come up with. He has one of those thinking outside of the box minds too.
ReplyDeleteNow that will be a family heirloom for sure!
ReplyDeleteThey still make them, but not like this. I suggest you hang on to it as It works very well.
ReplyDeleteI would love something like that! I was just shelling some nut left from Christmas. I have a simple metal nutcracker and a sweet one like that would definitely male cracking the leftovers moire fun!
ReplyDeleteThat is one clever pecan sheller. I too love pecans. Nice share

Cool tool. How fun to have something made by a loved one - that works.
ReplyDeleteMy sister has one since she has a lot of pecan trees on her farm. It does make a difference, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteWish I had one.
My mother had one just like it. It certainly did make for a quick way to get to the tasty nut inside.
ReplyDeleteI love "old-guy tools"! Actually, I have a soft spot for old guys too. That's what comes from having fabulous grandfathers.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this!
Oh, wow - I inherited this exact thing from my grandparent's basement a couple of years ago - haven't used it - I keep it for some of my history displays. Clever gadget!
ReplyDeleteJoy!
